Itinerary

Upon arrival at Venice Airport (VCE) take private transfer to Bolzano. Surrounded by mountains and built in a natural basin, Bolzano is a charming city with a blend of German and Mediterranean traditions. In the afternoon, be treated to a fascinating guided tour of the town center, without missing the Cathedral and its Gothic bell tower and Piazza Walther, with its characteristic wooden houses offering amazing decorations. During the tour, explore the striking South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home to Ötzi the iceman–a 5,000-year-old natural human mummy discovered by hikers in the nearby Ötztal Alps.

Overnight: Parkhotel Larin - Bolzano

Today, reach the Parco del Respiro, an open space for everyone where the only ticket you need is a promise to respect the forest and to preserve its beauty. During this experience, immerse yourself in the practice of forest bathing, guided by a local expert. Get to know the trees with tree-hugging, moving closer to nature in mind and spirit. An excursion to discover once again that nature is our true home and should be experienced with due patience and respect, understood, protected, and recounted with special care. On the way back to Bolzano, stop at a local winery for a light lunch with wine pairing. In the afternoon, private transfer to Merano for a half-day of wellness at the thermal baths.

Overnight: Parkhotel Laurin - Bolzano

Parco del Respiro hike: 4miles / 3hours

Spend the morning exploring with your local art historian guide the enchanting Augustinian Abbey of Novacella, a religious complex of great artistic value, with cloisters covered in exquisite frescoes. Then, visit the ancient wine estate inside the Abbey, dating back to 1142, and taste the local wines produced here paired with local delicacies. In the afternoon, discover Lake Issengo, one of the few natural lakes in the region. After a pleasant easy walk in the company of your local hiking guide, visit a  mountain pine essential oils distillery that has been dedicated to this production for generations and with great respect for nature.

Overnight: Parkhotel Laurin - Bolzano

Meet your hiking guide, ascent by cable car to Castelrotto and depart for hiking to the Alpe di Siusi. It is a vast plateau with a gently undulating morphology, enriched by streams, groves, hollows and small valleys surrounded by superb Dolomite scenery: the Sassolungo and the Sassopiatto, the Sciliar Group with Punta Santner and Torre Euringer and the Bullaccia. Walk around the Tisenser Hügel hill to the church of S. Maddalena in Tagusa and at the foot of the Sciliar massif. At the end of the excursion, stop at a local dairy, where a cheesemaker will show traditional production techniques. It will end with a delicious cheese tasting. Continue to Cortina d’Ampezzo, the site of the 1956 and 2026 winter Olympics and your home for the next three nights. Take some time at leisure to relax or to explore the village at your own pace.

Overnight: Faloria Mountain Spa Resort - Cortina d’Ampezzo

Alpe di Siusi + visit to a local dairy hike: 8 miles / 4+ hours

Standing on the peak of a mountain at a height of more than 8,500 feet is Nuvolau Hut. Built in 1883 and one of the oldest in all of the Western Alps, the hut is famous for the incomparable panorama it offers: 360 degrees views from the Marmolada glaciers to the famous Tofana mountains through to the Austrian glaciers. Its strategic position made it one of the most important viewpoints during the First World War. Return to your accommodation in the early afternoon for time at leisure and dinner on your own. After dinner, drive to Col Druscié to the Helmut Ullrich Astronomical Observatory, which offers an unforgettable experience under a “natural cupola” at a height of almost 6,000 feet at the foot of the Tofane mountains.

Overnight: Faloria Mountain Spa Resort - Cortina d’Ampezzo

Nuvolau Hut hike: 7.5 miles / 4+ hours

The Tre Cime—"Three Peaks"—are the landmark of the Dolomites. The white dolomite and the green meadows and forests shape the landscape here. Until 1919 the peaks formed part of the border between Italy and Austria and now they lie on the border between the Italian provinces of South Tyrol and Belluno though still being part of the linguistic boundary between German-speaking and Italian-speaking majorities. Enjoy the opportunity of hiking the most iconic and majestic peaks of the Region and of sharing a picnic lunch at one of the most panoramic spots of the area. Complete the ring and return to your accommodation for some time to stroll the town at your own pace.

Overnight: Faloria Mountain Spa Resort - Cortina d’Ampezzo

Tre Cime di Lavaredo hike: 6 miles / 4+ hours

First thing in the morning, head northeast to the less traveled area of the Carnic Alps and Friulan Dolomites. Reach Cima Sappada, one of the best-preserved charming mountain villages of the Eastern Alps, with spectacular original houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. Drive across the Pesarine Dolomites to reach Pesariis, known as “the town of the clocks.” Time machines have been manufactured here since the 18th century (officially since 1725) when the Solari company was founded. The whole village has mechanical clocks at every corner. Discover the Museum of the Clocks before meeting Eliana and her family and explore the property’s organic orchard. Pick up vegetables for lunch tomorrow and then enjoy a welcome dinner at your organic farmhouse prepared by Eliana and her daughters.

Overnight: Sot la Napa - Pesariis

After breakfast, meet with Eliana and her daughters. Continue to the kitchen and learn to make regional specialties, then take an easy hike to the nearby charming hamlet of the Stavoli di Orias, a masterpiece of ancient agriculture architecture and return to the property to feast on your creations for lunch.
