Montemar Eco-Luxury Villas

Immerse yourself in a new concept of luxury: silence, wildlife and comfort in the middle of giant tortoise territory in the Galapagos Islands. Montemar consists of two beautifully appointed eco-luxury villas, located on 43-acres of private land on the island of Santa Cruz. Choose between Villa Tortuga for eight guests or Villa Lechuza for four guests—or choose an exclusive rental of the whole property. Your hosts Reyna and Roberto, who are both local conservationists and experienced naturalist guides, will look after you and ensure that you make the most out of your stay in Galapagos in the most sustainable way. Montemar produces most of its energy, collects rainwater and supplies fresh produce, including coffee, from its own organic biodynamic garden. Montemar is a zero single-use plastic property and was built using green architecture techniques.

Galapagos weather is influenced greatly by ocean currents and has two distinctive seasons: the warm and at times rainy season extends from mid-December to May. It is characteristic from this season to have some sporadic heavy showers from December to March and then usually getting very sunny and dry for the rest of it. Temperatures fluctuate between 85F and 60F (30⁰C to 15⁰C) on daily basis. The garúa season extends from mid-May until mid-December: it is characterized by less sunny days and an intermittent mist or drizzle that strikes mostly the southern and central islands on their south side creating a rain shadow effect that keeps the northern coasts sunnier. It is influenced by the southern trade winds and Humboldt Current that comes directly from the Antarctic. This brings a milder weather to the islands with temperatures that will range on daily bases from 78F to 55F (26⁰C to 13⁰C).
