About The Ranch at Death Valley

Welcoming adventurers since 1933, The Ranch at Death Valley is the pulsing heart of this desert oasis and a family-friendly basecamp for exploring California's largest national park. Set along sprawling green lawns next to the National Park Service Visitor Center, this former working ranch channels mid-century charm with guest rooms spread across cottage-style accommodations and classic lodge buildings. With tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, a children's playground, horseback riding from the on-site stables and a record-breaking golf course mere steps away, The Ranch delivers the perfect balance: rugged park exploration by day, comfortable western hospitality by night.

Worth Traveling For

What We Love

Sure, you could play golf at sea level like everyone else. Or you could join the elite few who've conquered Furnace Creek Golf Course—214 feet below sea level—where thin air and bizarre barometric pressure turn every tee shot into a physics experiment. The Panamint Mountains loom in the distance, palm trees sway over fairways, and yes, the occasional coyote might trot across your line of play. Between rounds, saddle up for guided horseback rides through the otherworldly landscape, rent a Jeep to tackle the park's most rugged backcountry routes or pull up a stool at The Last Kind Words Saloon, a meticulously recreated Old West watering hole complete with wagon wheel chandeliers, stamped tin ceilings, wanted posters and authentic Navajo saddles from the 1920s. This is Death Valley the way it was meant to be experienced.

Accommodations

The Ranch's newest addition—modern cottages that blend western charm with contemporary comfort—sits just steps from the golf course's first tee. Beyond the cottages, classic lodge rooms and cabins spread across expansive lawns adjacent to Furnace Creek Golf Course. These single and two-story accommodations feature private patios or balconies where you can watch golfers navigate the world's most unusual course while the Panamint Range glows pink at sunset. Some rooms open directly onto the lush grounds, placing you halfway to the pool, playground or those legendary saloon doors.
