About Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort

Pawleys Island runs south of the central Myrtle Beach chaos—quieter beaches, less traffic, slower pace. Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort occupies 600 acres here, split between oceanfront buildings and inland villas. The resort's been around since the 1960s on what was once a rice and indigo plantation, and it shows in the layout: winding roads through live oaks, lagoons with turtles and herons, buildings spread out enough that it feels residential rather than packed. Water features include outdoor pools with a lazy river, an indoor pool, hot tubs scattered across the grounds and a kids' waterpark with splash pads. Dining options range from casual beachside spots to coffee bars and ice cream shops. A seasonal shuttle runs guests to the private beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and a dozen golf courses are within ten minutes of the front gate.

Worth Traveling For

What We Love

The Grand Strand packs in more golf courses per square mile than almost anywhere else on the East Coast. Twelve courses within ten minutes of the resort. Another fifty-plus within a half-hour drive. The variety spans from tight Lowcountry designs winding through marshes and live oaks to wide-open coastal layouts where the wind off the Atlantic turns a par-4 into a guessing game. The resort's location in Pawleys Island also puts you close to Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve worth visiting if you need a break from the course. The lazy river winds past palm trees and waterfalls, slow enough for kids to float without parents worrying. The health club includes an indoor pool, steam room, sauna and fitness equipment. Tennis and pickleball courts are open to guests, and bike rentals are available for riding the paths that connect the resort's different sections.
