About Kona Coast Resort

Hawai'i's Kona Coast earns its reputation the slow way: volcanic soil that grows the world's most prized coffee, shoreline so close to manta ray feeding grounds that you can watch them from a kayak and sunshine that barely takes a day off. Kona Coast Resort puts you right in the middle of it, in the Keauhou corridor of the Big Island's sunny western shore with championship golf literally next door. The adjacent course plays along the Pacific, with oceanfront holes close enough to catch sea spray and wide Bermuda fairways that welcome every skill level. Beyond the course, the rest of the Big Island opens up quickly. Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, coffee farm tours, deep-sea fishing out of Kailua-Kona and snorkeling in Keauhou Bay are all within striking distance. The resort itself is built for longer stays, with tropical gardens, two pools, tennis courts, hot tubs, volleyball and an on-site restaurant that makes the end of a long day easy. This is villa living on the Big Island, with golf as the anchor and the entire Kona Coast as your backyard.

Worth Traveling For

Tee Off in Style

Golf on the Big Island's Kona Coast delivers something the resort corridors up north can't always match: smaller crowds and courses that feel more local than corporate. The championship layout in your backyard is a William Bell original from 1966, with holes that hug the Pacific so tightly you can hear waves crashing between swings. Signature par-3s on the front and back nines play directly along black lava-rock cliffs, and during whale season, humpbacks breach in plain view from the fairways. For a change of pace, courses higher up the slopes of Hualalai trade ocean spray for cool mountain air, volcano views and clever water hazards that test your game from a completely different angle. When you're not playing, Keauhou Bay is a short drive for manta ray night swims and snorkel tours, and Keauhou Shopping Center is walkable for dining, shopping and entertainment beyond the resort.

Accommodations

The suites at Kona Coast Resort feel more like a Hawaiian home than a hotel room. One- and two-bedroom layouts give everyone their own space, with separate living and dining areas, private lanais and full kitchens equipped for real cooking. In-unit washers and dryers seal the deal for families and longer visits. The decor leans into island style without overdoing it, and the lanais open to views of the resort's tropical gardens, the golf course and the ocean beyond. Master bedrooms are set apart from the common areas, so early risers and late-night readers can coexist without negotiation. BBQ grills are scattered throughout the grounds for evenings when the kitchen feels like too much effort, and the resort's pool and hot tub are never far from the front door.
