Experience

Located in Bahia Ballena-Uvita—a small community in the footsteps of Marino Ballena National Park where the jungle, ocean and mountains meet—is a one-of-a-kind surf and yoga camp designed for travelers who want to disconnect from their routine and spend time recharging their batteries. On top of your surfing and yoga sessions, you will also have the opportunity to take a guided walking tour to learn about the community, enjoy a relaxing massage on the yoga platform, visit a local waterfall and take in the lush jungle scenery of Costa Rica. Meals are made with love and are hearty, healthy and all ingredients are locally-sourced.

Everyone travels for a different reason, but doesn’t it feel neat when you find a place that is a true gem: one that is a little off-the-beaten-path, one that feels palpable rather than pretentious, one that somehow manages to be humble, quaint and worldly all at once? That’s why Bodhi encourages all guests to experience and engage with the community as much as possible. Shop at the local supermarket, try the local fare at a nearby “soda” (typical Costa Rican restaurant), rent a bike to cruise to the beach and take a community walking tour.

Responsible Tourism

As a tourism-based business, Bodhi Surf + Yoga strives to provide its guests with unique travel experiences that promote responsible tourism, facilitate community engagement and encourage individuals to see the world (and their role in it) with fresh eyes. Socially and environmentally responsible business practices have been woven into the fabric since day one. In 2020, Bodhi Surf + Yoga was honored to receive a second B Corporation certification for having met “rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency." In addition, they donate $20 on behalf of each full-paying guest. This donation supports local non-profit organizations and offers guests the opportunity to match or surpass this through an additional donation.

Accommodations

The Bodhi Surf & Yoga lodge is comprised of four lodging options, a common area and a yoga studio.

BUNGALOW GRATITUD

The largest of the four options, Gratitud can accommodate up to four adults and one child. The bungalow features a private bathroom and a well-equipped kitchenette.

BUNGALOW ESPIRITU

This bungalow is the perfect choice for a couple and features one queen bed, a kitchenette, a large private bathroom and a spacious balcony.

ROOM ARMONIA

This private hotel-style room is located on the second level of a two-story structure. The room features a full-sized bed that can accommodate two guests, a private bathroom and shared kitchen access on the ground floor.

ROOM AMISTAD

This private hotel-style room is located on the second level of a two-story structure. The room features two single beds that can accommodate either one or two guests, a private bathroom and shared kitchen access on the ground floor.

COMMON AREA ALEGRIA

This social area comprises a kitchen and dining area and is located on the ground level of the two-story structure with Room Armonia and Room Amistad on the top level.

RANCHO SERENIDAD

This two-story open-air structure is home to the Bodhi Shambala Yoga Studio on the top level and a relaxing meditation/reading area on the ground level called Serenidad.
