Disney built Aulani with the help of Hawaiian cultural experts and advisors, which shows in ways that matter. The architecture references traditional Hawaiian villages. The pools include a lazy river that winds through volcanic rock formations. Character appearances happen, but they're woven into storytelling sessions about Hawaiian legends rather than dominating the experience. The resort stretches across Ko Olina's western shore, where four man-made lagoons offer calm water for swimming and snorkeling. Waikolohe Valley features two waterslides, zero-entry pools and four hot tubs spread across multiple levels. Aunty's Beach House runs supervised activities for kids ages 4-12, focused on Hawaiian culture, art and music.
