Top 10 Wellness Retreats & Resorts in Florida

Last updated March 4, 2022

Florida is the perfect destination for year-round vacationing with plenty of luxury and relaxation for visitors. While there are plenty of options to choose from in the Sunshine State, in this article, we’ll be exploring the top 10 wellness retreats of Florida.

Tips to Choose the Perfect Florida Wellness Retreat

When deciding on what criteria makes one resort a top pick, we considered location, wellness amenities and general appeal to relax and rejuvenate your body and mind.

1. Carillon Miami Wellness Resort (Miami)

Acknowledged as one of the top wellness retreat destinations year after year, The Carillon Miami Wellness Resort combines class, tranquil water views and time-tested, innovative wellness amenities and services.

Carillon features a variety of activities from adventure to relaxation. There’s an indoor rock climbing wall, full-size gym, multiple outdoor pools, a full menu of wellness classes, beachfront pristine property in the heart of Miami Beach and an assortment of spa specialties.

With a cutting-edge array of “Touches Wellness” services, Carillon has the perfect combination of science and holistic treatments, from IV Therapy, Chakra Balancing, salt baths, cryotherapy, infrared sauna, and hydrotherapies, to name a few.

2. Faena Hotel Miami Beach

A bit south of the Carillon, you’ll find the hip and artful Faena Hotel Miami Beach. Also beachfront property, Faena hosts everything from world-class food and spas to famed artwork (check out their golden mammoth skeleton on display).

Faena boasts one of the top spas in Miami—and with reason. The Tierra Santa Healing House is a 22,000-square-foot sanctuary that features one of the largest hammams on the East Coast.

On-site medical programs, shamanic healing, and fitness and yoga class offerings make Faena a total well-being lux experience.

3. 1 Hotel South Beach (Miami Beach)

Imagine West Elm, the ocean waves and Miami beach all met and had a baby. That baby would be called the 1 Hotel South Beach. The epitome of the outdoor elements and nature, the 1 Hotel prides itself on sustainability and maintaining a visual appeal that is inspired by the outdoors.

With whites, woods, sand colors and doses of blues and greens, the 1 Hotel South Beach changed the name of wellness retreats in Florida when opening back in 2015 on Miami Beach.

With four restaurants (one poolside on their main pool deck, one rooftop, one ground floor and another grab-and-go option accessible through the spa and gym) and a full-sized gym for members and guests of the celeb-famous Anatomy Fitness, as well as the first Bamford Wellness Spa right on property, there is plenty to choose from when it comes to your well-being.

Of course, because you are beachside, you could just skip it all and run or walk on the boardwalk right outside your hotel—but why not have options, stay a few extra nights and do it all?

4. Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, Palm Beach

Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa came across my news feed for years now with an influx of their featured wellness events. After further investigation, Eau Palm is a wellness destination and gold of a find that I personally cannot wait to experience.

Located in the high-end luxury Palm Beach area of Florida, you’re oceanfront to pristine beaches, loads of walking, upper-class restaurants and shopping, and a full fitness center with tennis courts.

5. The Breakers Palm Beach, Palm Beach

Another Palm Beach top destination, The Breakers has a full 20,000 square-foot spa, 6,000 square-foot oceanfront fitness center, 10 lighted tennis courts and two 18-hole golf courses. It’s massive.

There’s plenty for the entire family to take part in, with a variety of activities to choose from across their 140-acre property. You’re also a stone’s throw away from high-end names and boutique stores and restaurants if you choose to get off property.

Perhaps the standout high is the pure grandiosity that The Breakers has to offer. Compared to Miami that it is a bit tighter for space, The Breakers in Palm Beach is open and free-feeling with every touch of upper-scale to feel pampered inside and out.

6. Acqualina Resort & Spa, Sunny Isles

I got a chance to visit Acqualina a few years back for a press event and appreciated the open space that was offered compared to my home base in Miami.

Another beachfront location, Acqualina has many similar amenities of a full spa with a fitness center and hydro pools but I will add in to check out their cryotherapy or hydrafacial offerings. After a full day in the Miami sun, your skin will thank you.

Noting their wellness menu is one not to miss either. I recommend the Zucchini and Squash Noodles or the Salmon Salad to try poolside post Balancing Massage with Volcanic Rocks.

7. The Standard, Miami Beach

Located on the only non-man-made island in Miami (fun Venetian Island fact from a local), The Standard, Miami Beach Belle Island has (in my humble opinion) one of the best poolside and dining views in all of Miami.

A bit hipster chic, The Standard has a full spa, 7-day week fitness and class schedule, outdoor mud tubs, hot/cold plunge, Stand-up paddleboard, outdoor fire pit and (wait for it) a hammam. Yes, this is what kept me a member here at The Standard was the relaxing feeling of the warm stones against my body after a long day of exploring, or just relaxing on property.

8. Fontainebleau Miami Beach

A massive property in the heart of Miami Beach, skip the nightlife and opt for one of their water journeys or renewed radiance facial after a day overlooking some of Miami’s bluest waters.

Fountainbleau truly has incredible oceanfront views from their rooms, so it’s worth the extra price just to witness that view every morning when you wake up.

Fontainebleau’s Lapis Spa was named “the most beautiful spa in America” by Martha Stewart.  Book their “Bleau for Two” for yourself and a mate/friend. or one of their Ayurvedic rituals for a restorative treat.

9. Little Palm Island Resort & Spa, Little Torch Key

Little Palm Island is truly on an island of its own, so in many ways, this is like a private getaway. Located off the Florida Keys coastline, Little Palm is lined with crushed seashell paths on a private, lush paradise.

A bit of a British Territory vibe infused with luxurious details at every turn, SpaTerre is a world-class spa on property, the CBD treatments using macadamia nut oil and organic vanilla have my mouth drooling all the way from Miami as I write this.

Featuring a full fitness center, you can also take your workout outdoors for kayaking, snorkeling, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, and just about any water sport you can set your mermaid heart on.

10. Ocean Key Resort & Spa, Key West

We’re heading to the southernmost tip of Florida to share this wellness retreat destination with you. The Ocean Key Resort and Spa is located on Key West, the furthest of the Florida Keys in the collection of five islands.

Similar to Little Palm Island Resort mentioned above, Ocean Key Resort & Spa also features the signature SpaTerre spa on property.

Try out a Balinese massage treatment, and, when in Key West, why not drink your Margarita and get a Key Lime Margarita Spa Pedicure too?
