Top 10 Wellness Retreats & Resorts in Florida

Last updated March 21, 2024

Florida is the perfect destination for year-round vacationing with plenty of luxury and relaxation for visitors.

With far too many options in the Sunshine State, which criteria make a top pick? We always consider location, wellness amenities, and general appeal to relax and rejuvenate your body and mind. Below, we list our top 10 wellness retreats in Florida for your booking pleasure.

1. Carillon Wellness Resort — Miami Beach, FL

Acknowledged as one of the top wellness retreats in Florida year after year, Carillon Miami Wellness Resort combines class, tranquil water views and time-tested, innovative wellness amenities and services.

Carillon features a variety of activities from adventure to relaxation. There’s an indoor rock climbing wall, full-size gym, multiple outdoor pools, a full menu of wellness classes, beachfront pristine property in the heart of Miami Beach and an assortment of spa specialties.

With a cutting-edge array of “Touchless Wellness” services, Carillon has the perfect combination of science and holistic treatments—from IV therapy, chakra balancing, salt baths, cryotherapy, infrared sauna, and hydrotherapies, to name a few.

2. Faena Hotel — Miami Beach, FL

Slightly south of the Carillon, you’ll find the hip and artful Faena Hotel Miami Beach. Located beachfront, Faena hosts everything from world-class food and spas to famed artwork (check out their golden mammoth skeleton on display).

Faena boasts one of the top spas in Miami—and with reason. The Tierra Santa Healing House is a 22,000-square-foot sanctuary that features one of the largest hammams on the East Coast.

On-site medical programs, shamanic healing, and fitness and yoga class offerings make Faena a total well-being lux experience.

3. 1 Hotel South Beach — Miami Beach, FL

Imagine West Elm, the ocean waves and Miami beach all met and had a baby. That baby would be called the 1 Hotel South Beach. The epitome of outdoor elements and nature, 1 Hotel prides itself on sustainability.

With whites, woods, sand colors and doses of blues and greens, 1 Hotel South Beach changed the name of wellness retreats in Florida when it opened in 2015 on Miami Beach.

What with four restaurants (one poolside on their main pool deck, one rooftop, one ground floor and another grab-and-go option accessible through the spa and gym), a full-sized gym for members and guests of the celeb-famous Anatomy Fitness as well as the first Bamford Wellness Spa right on property—bam, there is plenty to choose when it comes to well-being.

You could, of course, skip it all and run or walk on the boardwalk right outside the hotel. Or, you could stay a few extra nights and do everything?

4. Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa — South Palm Beach, FL

For some reason, this resort and spa kept popping up in my news feed with an influx of their featured wellness events. So I thought to do some investigating. Lo and behold, Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa is a gold of a find that I personally cannot wait to experience.

Located in the high-end luxury Palm Beach area of Florida, you’re oceanfront to pristine beaches, loads of walking, upper-class restaurants and shopping, and a full fitness center with tennis courts.

5. The Breakers Palm Beach — Palm Beach, FL

Another Palm Beach top destination, the legendary The Breakers features an expansive spa, oceanfront fitness center, 10 lighted tennis courts and two 18-hole golf courses. It’s massive.

And there’s plenty for the entire family to take part in, with a variety of activities to choose from across their 140-acre property. If you do choose to get off property, you’re just a stone’s throw away from high-end boutique stores and notable restaurants.

Perhaps the standout high is the acclaimed resort’s pure grandiosity. The Breakers Palm Beach is free-feeling with every touch of upscale inside and out.

6. Acqualina Resort & Spa — Sunny Isles Beach, FL

A few years ago, I was lucky enough to visit Acqualina Resort & Spa for a press event. Everything seems bigger here. The unobstructed views, the spacious guest rooms and the standout spa.

Embracing the legendary European Day Spa philosophy that each visit is a journey, your spa experience begins with Ayurvedic-infused holistic, restorative and meditative treatments. I highly suggest their cryotherapy or hydrafacial offerings. After a long day in the Miami sun, your skin will surely thank you.

For the ultimate mind-body connection, Acqualina Spa offers yoga and other premier wellness services, including a fitness center and hydro pool.

Their wellness menu is one not to miss either. I recommend the Zucchini and Squash Noodles or the Salmon Salad to try poolside post Balancing Massage with Volcanic Rocks.

7. The Standard Spa — Miami Beach, FL

Located on the only non-man-made island in Miami (fun Venetian Island fact from a local), The Standard Miami on Belle Island has (in my humble opinion) one of the best poolside and dining views in all of Miami.

A bit hipster chic, The Standard has a full spa, a daily fitness and class schedule, outdoor mud tubs, hot/cold plunge, stand-up paddleboard, outdoor fire pit and (wait for it) a hammam. Yes, this is what kept me a member here… the relaxing feeling of the warm stones against my body after a long day of exploring, or just relaxing on property.

8. Fontainebleau — Miami Beach, FL

A massive property in the heart of Miami Beach, skip the nightlife and opt for one of their water journeys after a day overlooking some of Miami’s bluest waters.

Fontainebleau truly has incredible oceanfront views from their guest rooms. It’s definitely worth the extra price of waking up to that view every morning.

The Lapis Spa was named “the most beautiful spa in America” by Martha Stewart. Book their “Bleau for Two” for yourself and a partner/friend. Or book one of their Ayurvedic rituals for a restorative treat.

9. Little Palm Island Resort & Spa — Little Torch Key, FL

In many ways, Little Palm Island is like a private getaway. Located off the Florida Keys coastline on its own lush island, Little Palm is lined with crushed seashell paths.

Think British Territory vibe infused with luxurious details at every turn, SpaTerre is a world-class spa on property, the CBD treatments using macadamia nut oil and organic vanilla have my mouth drooling all the way from Miami as I write this.

Prefer your workout outdoors? On your doorstep you have kayaking, snorkeling, sailing, fishing, scuba diving and just about any water sport you set your mermaid heart on.

10. Ocean Key Resort & Spa — Key West, FL

Lastly, we head to the southernmost tip of Florida to share this wellness retreat destination with you. Ocean Key Resort & Spa is located on Key West, the furthest of the Florida Keys in the collection of five islands.

Similar to Little Palm Island Resort, Ocean Key Resort & Spa features the signature SpaTerre spa on property. Treatments here combine Eastern wellness practices with indigenous oils and herbs to create exotic, life-altering experiences.

And since you are in Key West, why not drink your margarita while enjoying a Key Lime Margarita Spa Pedicure?
