Golf probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you’re craving a feel-good escape. I’ll admit, it wasn’t mine either. But stay with me. These getaways are tapping into a different side of wellness travel. One that is less about scorecards and dress codes, and more about movement, presence, and spa time that feels indulgent and perfectly timed between swings.

For a long time, golf felt closed off to women. A sport that didn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat. That tired narrative is being rewritten, and witnessing it firsthand, the momentum feels both intentional and overdue.

Today’s golf getaways for women lean into purpose and community, offering the kind of travel women didn’t know they needed until they booked it. For women seeking connection, clarity and a personal reset, these golf getaways leave an impact that lasts far beyond the final round.

Why Now

Golf trips used to mean one thing: men, deals and tee times booked around business. Well, not anymore. According to the National Golf Foundation, women now make up one of the fastest-growing segments of new golfers. They aren’t chasing competition or dreams of going pro. Instead, they’re drawn to how the game fits into a lifestyle focused on health and well-being.

Women also drive the wellness travel market, making roughly 80–82% of all travel decisions and comprising approximately 64% of global travelers. Increasingly, they’re traveling solo or in small groups and gravitating toward adventure, nature and wellness-focused trips—precisely the experiences women’s golf retreats offer.

I run women’s golf getaways, and most of the women who attend say they’re “not really golfers.” By the end of the trip, they’re already asking where we’re hosting the next one.

Wellness, Woven into the Greens

The wellness part? Most women don’t book a golf getaway expecting a fitness boost. After a few days on the course, though, the benefits become impossible to ignore.

A round of 18 holes can cover four to five miles, and most golfers easily surpass 10,000 steps without ever feeling like they’re “working out.” Carrying clubs adds a gentle challenge, and over the span of a multi-day getaway, this steady movement strengthens the body and clears the mind.

What stands out is how thoughtfully these trips integrate wellness practices without making them the headline. Yoga sessions help loosen shoulders for smoother swings. Pilates builds strength and stability in places most women didn’t realize they relied on. Breathwork sharpens focus, which is useful on the greens, and surprisingly transferable to daily life.

Paired with restorative spa treatments sprinkled throughout the day, the experience takes on a natural rhythm. Muscles recover more easily, mobility improves, and the benefits of moving, breathing and being outdoors follow you off the greens.

Beyond the Fairway

Unlike traditional girls’ trips that pack schedules tightly or rely on forced bonding, golf getaways for women foster connection through shared experience. Yes, the game provides structure, but the real magic happens in the space around it.

And perhaps that’s why these trips resonate so deeply. They don’t promise transformation or reinvention. They offer something subtler: permission to slow down, try something new and leave feeling more like yourself than when you arrived.
