Posh Pampering at the Prestigious The Langham, London

Last updated January 15, 2024

Peace. That’s the feeling that enveloped my body as I lowered myself onto the silky sheets of the massage table in my treatment room at Chuan Spa + Soul Spa. I’d just checked into The Langham, London for a weekend of indulgence—and the hustle-bustle of Saturday in the city was already a distant memory.

Part of my visit to London was spent with my mother in an Airbnb flat on the South Bank. We decided to spend the final days of our vacation in the West End and in the lap of luxury at The Langham, London.

Read on for my four reasons why this historic British gem should be your go-to getaway for a weekend of posh pampering.

1. The Langham, London: Location

If you love to walk around a city as I do (or go for a morning jog to see some of the sights), location is everything when it comes to a hotel.

The Langham, London is ideally located across from the BBC headquarters at the top of Regent Street—making this property a brilliant base from which to explore on foot neighborhoods such as Soho and Mayfair.

Plus, the high street shops of Oxford and Bond streets, not to mention green spaces like Regent’s Park can be found just beyond The Langham, London’s doors.

2. The Langham, London: Spa

A respite from the chaos of the city is a spot-on way to describe The Langham, London. Tucked away, you’ll find the property’s subterranean sanctuary: the Chuan + Soul Spa.

“Tranquil” is the best way I can describe the environment that is home to treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness studio and a stunning indoor pool. When I visited the spa, I experienced the signature Magnesium Bamboo Ritual, where the therapist used a concoction infused with magnesium and a stick of smooth bamboo to massage my muscles and relieve stress and soreness.

Although the spa is no longer offering this particular treatment, you can opt for other unique treatments ranging from the Immune Booster (which includes Reiki therapy, a massage and a foot treatment) to Chinese cupping therapy.

Post-treatment, enjoy a cup of tea in the relaxation area, or treat yourself to sauna or a steam in the changing area.

Since my visit, Chuan Spa has also incorporated a new approach into their treatments and the products they use: the Five Elements theory. Based on the key principles of Chinese medicine, guests are asked to complete a questionnaire that will assist in identifying basic disharmonies among the five elements (wood, fire, Earth, metal, and water) that influence your body and spirit. Together with sensory testing, you can discover the most suitable Chuan product for you.

3. The Langham, London: Guest Rooms

The wellness experience doesn’t end when you return to your room. I had a chance to try out a few components of the Sleep Matters by Chuan program, which addresses the power of a good night’s sleep when it comes to overall wellness.

You can choose to enjoy a Chuan Spa bespoke bath in your room, based on one of the aforementioned five elements. Or, indulge in the Refresh and Renew package, which includes a daily “revitalizing” breakfast, an in-room yoga mat, and turndown amenities such as earplugs and pillow mist.

Another perk of the package is you’ll receive the CBD OTO Mini Sleep Collection pack that includes goodies like CBD Sleep Drops and a mini CBD Night Face Mask.

Now, on to the room itself. The décor is a beautiful blend of cozy and chic. I encourage you to wrap yourself in the snuggly bathrobe and slippers, take a snooze in a Langham “Blissful Bed,” indulge in the Diptyque toiletries, enjoy a snack from the private bar or a cup of tea or Nespresso (courtesy of the in-room kettle and machine).

Oh, and in the desk drawer, you’ll find The Langham, London’s signature stationary and postcard — which the writer in me adores.

4. The Langham, London: Nourishment

From a glass of green juice to start your morning, to an elegant-yet-simple dinner of ricotta and spinach tortellini with Woodland mushrooms, The Langham, London offers a form of nourishment to satisfy every palate and diet.

Indulgent food makes me happy and happiness is key to my overall wellness. However, I do my best to balance out the indulgent with fruits, vegetables and other healthy fare.

So, I was quite pleased with the food and beverage options the property provided. While The Langham, London offers a pub concept—The Wigmore, a cocktail spot known as “Artesian,” and Roux at the Landau, a fine dining concept (temporarily closed), we chose to eat all of our meals at Palm Court.

On one occasion I started my day with a glass of that nourishing green juice, a bit of plain yogurt and a poached egg, savored in the elegant dining room. Later in the day, mom and I treated ourselves to the Palm Court’s famed high tea, which offers a selection of finger sandwiches, pastries, scones and more.

Finally, for dinner, I loved that I could enjoy a bowl of soup (I sampled both options: roast chicken broth and tomato) and a glass of wine. A simple but delightful way to end the day.

A stay at The Langham, London is a truly quintessential British experience!
