We\u2019ve dissected some key principles and are giving you a crash course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get to know the eight limbs of yoga and how to incorporate them into your travels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-backstory\">The Backstory<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pantanjali, the author of the great <em>Yoga Sutra<\/em>, created a collection of guidelines\u2014 or <em>sutras<\/em> in Sanskrit\u2014 on how to achieve a more purposeful life through the practice of yoga.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, the <em>Yoga Sutr<\/em>a<em>s of Pantanjali<\/em> are most renowned for their eightfold path, also known as ashtanga. Thinking of downward dog, tree pose, or sweating it out in warrior one? This is the limb you\u2019re most likely thinking of, as it refers to the various yoga poses and positions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each is necessary for nurturing our physical bodies to prepare space and concentration for deep meditation. Research from the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health shows yoga improves overall wellness, helps with stress management, sleep, emotional health and mental well-being.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travel tip:<\/strong> Hop on a yoga mat at your travel destination and practice some powerful yoga postures. Through ethical conduct, spiritual and emotional well-being, and physical manipulations, <em>Pranayama<\/em> encompasses each of these through the power of the breath.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this particular phase, breathing exercises and techniques are used to recognize and accept these and move into deeper awareness.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travel tip:<\/strong> While breath control is part of the eight limbs of yoga, it can also be used as a separate practice.
