You are able to look at yourself and your surroundings from a neutral, unassuming perspective. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With origins in Buddhism, it is most often thought of in the form of deep meditation or yoga. However, you can practice mindfulness in any way that feels right for you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.helpguide.org\/harvard\/benefits-of-mindfulness.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">benefits of this exercise<\/a> includes improved physical and mental states by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cultivating positive attitudes;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opening up neural pathways that make enjoyment and satisfaction easier;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing worries about the future and regrets from the past;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fostering deeper, soul-focused connections;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relieving stress;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protrainings.com\/blog\/can-stress-cause-heart-pain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">physical manifestations of stress<\/a>, like heart conditions, chest pain, headaches, upset stomach, sleep disturbances and high blood pressure;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improving mental health conditions, such as anxiety, eating disorders, depression, OCD and substance abuse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These benefits are worth giving mindfulness a shot. Be Aware of Your Body<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A core tenet of mindfulness is the awareness of your body and its surroundings. This involves activating all of your senses to transform the way you experience sensory cues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This part of mindfulness is a mental journey and can be integrated into any technique. Rather than dwelling on perceived flaws or limitations, you can release judgment and accept yourself and your journey for what it is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only then can you see clearly enough to approach life calmly and assuredly. With the distractions of everyday life, it may not feel immediately comfortable for you to sit and do \u201cnothing.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of automatically dismissing your ability to be patient, let yourself enjoy the journey.&nbsp;Trust the process without focusing on the time it takes to get to where you want to be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you still find this difficult, you can incorporate mindfulness into your current daily activities, like walking, listening to music, exercising or doing crafts. Stay Open &amp; Curious<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another salient principle of mindfulness is to hold a \u201cbeginner\u2019s mind.\u201d As we age or progress in life and activities, we often lose sight of the naivety and curiosity we once had. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather than abandoning that pursuit, it\u2019s important to make a conscious effort to remain open to new ideas and experiences.
